New Valley is the greenhouse of a founder revolution. A space where founders bloom. Ally West and Réna Wienclaw, co-founders of New Valley Labs, came to a small studio in search of an unapologetic identity that would leave a wake in the Midwest tech ecosystem.
Starting with a small studio's trademark practice, Identity Architecture, we set off to create a brand that would uplift queer and underrepresented tech founders across the Midwest. Some of our favorite descriptors in the beginning stages of this brand were "fearless," "Scott Pilgrim" and "punk rock as hell." This, along with their mission to uplift their community dove us towards a brand that exudes personality, color, quirkiness, and imperfection.
As the motion designer on this project, my goal was to create a standard that felt like it could be a rock music video for a graphic novel. Incorporating hand drawn and intentional, imperfect movement was the crux of making the motion exemplify New Valley.

The colors are intended to be a fresh take on the rainbow flag– something that pays homage to icons like Ziggy Stardust and David Bowie. Thunder, our typeface, can only be describes and loud and proud. A chunky, versatile font that you can't look away from.
We were font of describing the character illustrations as just a "little guy." They're shy, earnest, and a little awkward. They're representations of any founder who wants to bloom in the greenhouse of this founder revolution.
